Sharjah Football Match — Daily Pickup Games at the Best Pitches in the Emirate
The largest, most reliable social football community in Sharjah. Daily 5-a-side, 7-a-side and 11-a-side matches at the top turf pitches across the city. Balanced teams, fair fees, respectful players. Show up, play, repeat.
The Easiest Way to Find a Football Match in Sharjah Tonight
If you have just moved to Sharjah, or you have lived here for years and your old football WhatsApp group has slowly gone quiet, Sharjah Football Match is the simplest way back onto the pitch. We are a community-run social football group that organises pickup matches in Sharjah almost every single day of the week. There are no memberships, no contracts, no awkward trials, and no pressure to attend a fixed number of sessions. You join the WhatsApp group, you reply "in" to the next match poster, you turn up at the pitch with your boots and shin pads, and you play.
We were started by a small group of expats and Emiratis who were tired of the same old problems — cancelled games, half-empty pitches, unbalanced teams where the same five players dominated every match, and groups where the loudest voices ran the show. So we built something different: a Sharjah football group with simple rules. Show up on time. Pay your fee. Respect the other players. Balance the teams. Have fun. That formula is exactly why our community has grown to more than five hundred regular players from over thirty nationalities, all united by one thing — the love of the game.
Whether you want a fast-paced 5-a-side match in a caged turf in Al Nahda after work, a tactical 7-a-side in Muweilah on a Wednesday evening, or a proper full-pitch 11-a-side game in the University City on Saturday morning, you will find it here. The schedule runs all year, including late-night slots in the Industrial Area during the brutal Sharjah summer and indoor air-cooled matches when outdoor play just is not safe. And every single match is a single tap away in the WhatsApp group.

What Kind of Football Matches Do We Organise in Sharjah?
Our weekly schedule mixes formats deliberately, so there is something for every kind of player. Whether you grew up playing futsal in a school courtyard, weekend Sunday-league matches on full grass, or late-night cage games with friends, you will find a Sharjah football match that suits your style.
5-a-side football in Sharjah
Played on small caged turf pitches across Al Nahda, Al Qasimia, Al Majaz and the Industrial Area. Quick passes, lots of touches, plenty of goals. Perfect for after-work games on weekday evenings, and the format we run most often through summer on indoor air-cooled pitches.
7-a-side football in Sharjah
Our most-requested format. Big enough for proper tactical play with wingers, holding midfielders and a real keeper, but small enough that everyone gets meaningful touches every minute. Booked Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and most Saturday evenings.
11-a-side football in Sharjah
Full-pitch matches on Friday nights and Saturday mornings, mostly in University City and Muweilah. Throw-ins, offsides, proper goalkeepers, and the closest you will get to a real match-day feel without paying premium club fees.
Mixed and women-friendly football
Selected slots each week welcome women and mixed teams. We balance ability and intensity carefully so the matches are fun and safe. Ask in the WhatsApp group and the admin will tag you in the next mixed match.
Training and skills nights
Once or twice a month we run a training-style session: passing patterns, finishing drills, small-sided tournaments, and goalkeeper-specific work. Great for players who want to actually improve, not just play matches.
Tournaments and special days
Six- to eight-team knockout tournaments every quarter, Ramadan late-night specials, a UAE National Day exhibition match every December 2nd, and occasional charity matches with proceeds to local UAE causes.
Where We Play Football in Sharjah — All the Top Pitches
We rotate between the most reliable, well-lit, and well-maintained turf pitches in Sharjah, so wherever you live in the emirate there is a match within fifteen minutes of your front door. Every match poster includes a Google Maps pin so you cannot get lost.

How a Typical Sharjah Football Match Works
Here is exactly what happens from the moment you tap our WhatsApp link to the final whistle of your first match. No surprises, no awkward first-day energy, no guesswork.
-
Join the WhatsApp group
Tap the WhatsApp button. You land in our group of 200+ active Sharjah football players. Send a quick "salam, I'd like to play" message and the admin pins the rules in your DMs and welcomes you in.
-
Watch for the daily match poster
Every day the organiser posts the next match: pitch name, location pin, time, fee, format (5/7/11-a-side), and the number of slots available. Posters usually go live between 8 AM and noon for that evening's match.
-
Reply "in" to confirm
First-come-first-served. Once the slots are full, the lineup is pinned. If you are too late, you go on the waitlist — and you slot straight in if someone drops.
-
Show up 10 minutes early
Arrive in kit, warmed up, hydrated. Pay the organiser in cash or by instant bank transfer (we accept all UAE banks plus Liv. and Wio). The organiser splits the teams using player history and recent form.
-
Play
Two halves, usually 25 minutes each, short break in between. We rotate keepers, switch sides, and self-officiate with mutual respect. The organiser keeps the time and has the final say on disputes.
-
Stay for the chat
Most players hang around for water, photos and a quick post-match debrief. That is how friendships start — and that is the difference between a football group and just a booking platform.
Who Plays With Us
Our players come from every walk of life in Sharjah and the wider UAE. Here are the most common kinds of player you will meet on the pitch:
You just landed
Most of our regulars joined within their first month in the UAE. The fastest way to build a real social life here is to share a pitch with people every week.
You used to play, want back in
Maybe your old group went quiet. Maybe work got busy. Either way — show up to one match and you are back. We make it that easy.
You play once a week
Pay only when you play. Pick the slot that fits your schedule. No pressure to attend every match, no penalty for missing.
You want competitive football
Friday 11-a-side, Saturday morning matches, and our quarterly tournaments are genuinely competitive. Plenty of ex-academy and semi-pro players in the group.
You finish work late
Late-night slots from 10:30 PM in the Industrial Area suit shift workers, hospitality staff and night-shift professionals.
You play mixed football
Selected mixed and women-friendly slots run weekly. Tag the admin and we will add you to the next one.
Sharjah Football Match vs the Alternatives
There are a few ways to get a regular football match in Sharjah. Solo gym sessions and academy training are great for fitness but lack the actual joy of a competitive match. Booking a private pitch with friends only works if you can reliably gather ten to fourteen people every week — and most groups cannot. Random drop-in nights at commercial venues are hit-or-miss on team balance and crowd. Here is how a community-run group like ours compares.
| What you want | Sharjah Football Match | Solo gym / academy | Booking your own pitch |
|---|---|---|---|
| A real match every week | ✓ Daily options | ✗ No matches | ~ Only if 14 friends commit |
| Balanced teams | ✓ Every match | N/A | ✗ Friends cluster |
| Fixed monthly cost | ✓ Pay-as-you-play | ✗ 300–600 AED/mo | ~ Pitch rental varies |
| Multinational community | ✓ 30+ nationalities | ~ Depends on venue | ✗ Same friend group |
| Reliable, low-effort | ✓ Organiser handles all | ✓ Drop-in | ✗ You organise everything |
| Refunds on cancellation | ✓ 100% refund | ~ Frozen credits | ✗ Pitch keeps it |
What Players Say About Our Sharjah Football Matches
Joined the group two weeks after moving to Sharjah. Best decision I made. Already have a Friday match crew and we go for shawarma after.
I had not played proper football in 8 years. Showed up nervous, got placed in a friendly slot, played 90 minutes, no judgement. I am hooked.
Teams are actually balanced — that is the difference. I have left other groups because the same five guys hogged every team. Not here.
Ramadan late-night matches are the highlight of my year. Iftar, then 11 PM kick-off, then karak. Unbeatable.
Football in Sharjah Through the Year — Climate, Schedule, Survival
Sharjah's climate shapes the football calendar more than anything else. Knowing the rhythm of the year is half the battle in staying fit and injury-free as a player here.
Winter (October to April) — Peak Season
From October to April, the weather in Sharjah is genuinely perfect for football almost any time of day. Evening kick-offs from 7 to 10 PM are the busiest, and weekend morning matches in University City and Muweilah are extremely popular. Match volume doubles compared to summer — expect 8 to 10 matches per week in our group, including some Friday and Saturday morning slots. Spots fill faster, so keep an eye on the WhatsApp group between 8 AM and noon when the day's posters go live.
Summer (May to September) — Late-Night and Indoor
From May to September, daytime temperatures climb above 42°C with humidity peaking near 90%. Outdoor play before sunset is genuinely unsafe — heat-exhaustion injuries spike in May. We move all outdoor matches to 9:30 PM or later, with most slots running between 10:30 PM and 1 AM in the Industrial Area and Al Sajaa where temperatures are bearable. We also add one to two indoor air-cooled 5-a-side slots per week through June, July and August.
Pro tip: even in summer, hydration matters more than fitness. Drink 500 ml in the hour before kick-off, sip continuously during the match, and finish with 750 ml plus an electrolyte sachet. If you feel cramps, dizziness, headaches or nausea — stop. The pitch will be there next week.
Ramadan — Late-Night Matches After Iftar
Ramadan is one of our favourite times of the year for football in Sharjah. Matches kick off around 11 PM after iftar and digestion, the whole emirate is alive late at night, and the post-match karak runs are a highlight. We adjust intensity slightly out of respect for fasting players, and we share suhoor recommendations in the group.
UAE National Day and Special Events
Every December 2nd we run an exhibition Sharjah football match to mark UAE National Day. We also organise quarterly tournaments with group stages and knockouts (six to eight teams), and occasional charity matches with proceeds donated to local Sharjah and UAE causes.
What to Bring to a Sharjah Football Match
Pack the basics the night before so you are not stressed in the car. The list is short:
- Football boots — turf or moulded studs (no metal studs on artificial turf, ever)
- Shin pads — non-negotiable, even for casual matches
- 1.5 to 2 litres of water minimum — more in summer, plus electrolytes
- Both a light shirt and a dark shirt — helps team-balancing if bibs run out
- A small towel and a fresh t-shirt for the drive home
- Cash (small notes) or a banking app open and ready for the player fee
- A spare pair of socks and a basic first-aid plaster — small things that save your evening
What we provide:
- The pitch booking, paid and confirmed in advance
- Match-quality footballs (size 5 outdoor, size 4 indoor)
- Bibs in two colours for team identification
- An organiser on every match for team balancing, payments and disputes
- A pinned Google Maps location and parking guidance for every venue
- A WhatsApp record so post-match queries are never lost
Pickup Football Etiquette in Sharjah — The Unwritten Rules
Almost every problem in pickup football comes down to etiquette. We learned this the hard way across hundreds of matches. Here are the rules every regular in our group plays by — they keep the matches friendly, balanced, and safe.
- Show up on time. The match starts when the booking starts. Arriving 15 minutes late forces everyone to wait or play short.
- Pay before kick-off. The organiser settles the pitch fee on the day. Late or missing payments break trust.
- Pass the ball early. Earn the right to dribble. The first ten minutes is for finding rhythm, not solo runs.
- Never slide tackle on artificial turf. It is dangerous for everyone, and it is a fast track to a knee injury you do not want.
- Apologise after a heavy challenge. A quick "sorry, you good?" defuses 95% of pitch tension.
- Do not argue with the organiser about team balance. They have seen you play more times than you have seen them organise. Trust the process.
- Be a good loser and a humble winner. The same forty people are on the pitch next week. Your reputation matters.
- Stay for the post-match handshake. Photos, water, plans for next time. This is where the community happens.
Transparent Pricing — No Membership, No Surprises
You only pay for the matches you actually play. Here is the full price list:
| Format | Pitch type | Player fee (AED) | Match length |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5-a-side | Caged outdoor turf | 25–30 | 60 min |
| 7-a-side | Standard outdoor turf | 30–40 | 90 min |
| 11-a-side | Full-size turf or grass | 35–45 | 90–120 min |
| Indoor air-cooled | Indoor 5-a-side | 40–50 | 60 min |
| Tournament day | Premium pitch + multiple matches | 60–100 | 3–4 hours |
What's included in every per-match fee: pitch rental (split between confirmed players), match ball, bibs, organiser fee for team balancing and dispute resolution, and a guaranteed full refund within 24 hours if the venue cancels. See the full pricing page for details on payment methods and the cancellation policy.
Frequently Asked Questions about Football in Sharjah
The questions players ask the most before joining their first match in our Sharjah group:
How do I join a Sharjah football match this week?
Tap any WhatsApp button on this page to join our group. The organiser posts the next available match within minutes — pitch, time, format and fee. You reply "in", show up with boots and shin pads, and play.
Where exactly are the football matches in Sharjah played?
We rotate between the most reliable turf pitches in Sharjah: Al Nahda, Al Qasimia, Al Majaz, Al Khan, Muweilah, University City, Al Suyoh, Al Rahmaniya, Industrial Area and Al Sajaa. The exact pitch and a Google Maps pin are shared in the WhatsApp group at least 6 hours before kick-off.
How much does a pickup football game in Sharjah cost?
Player fee is 25 to 40 AED per match for outdoor turf, 40 to 50 AED for indoor air-cooled pitches, and 60 to 100 AED for tournament days on premium grass. Pay on the day in cash or by instant bank transfer. There is no membership and no joining fee.
What level do I need to play?
All levels are welcome. The organiser balances every match by ability and recent form so beginners get a fair, enjoyable game and advanced players get genuine competition. Most regulars are between 18 and 45 years old, and many started as complete beginners.
Do I need to bring my own kit and ball?
Bring football boots (turf or moulded studs — no metal), shin pads, and a water bottle. We provide bibs and the match ball. A light shirt and a dark shirt make team-balancing easier when bibs run out.
Are women and mixed teams welcome at Sharjah football matches?
Yes. We run mixed-gender matches on selected days each week and occasional women-only sessions. Ask in the WhatsApp group and the organiser will tag you in the next mixed slot.
Is the WhatsApp group really free?
Yes — joining the group is 100% free. There is no monthly subscription, no joining fee, and no minimum number of matches. You only pay the per-match pitch fee on the days you actually play.
How early should I confirm my spot?
Spots fill quickly, often within 30 to 60 minutes of the match poster going live. We recommend confirming as soon as you see the poster. Latecomers join a waiting list and slot in if someone drops.
What happens if a match is cancelled?
If the venue cancels (rain, power outage, double-booked pitch) every confirmed player gets a full refund within 24 hours. If you cancel your own spot more than 4 hours before kick-off, no charge.
Do you organise tournaments or private matches in Sharjah?
Yes. We run quarterly tournaments with group stages and knockouts, plus private bookings for friends-and-family groups of 10+ and corporate team-building events for Sharjah and Dubai-based companies.
